Amazon Web Services (AWS) and OpenAI have entered into a long-term partnership to support the growing computing needs of OpenAI.
The agreement, valued at $38 billion over seven yearsgives OpenAI access to a large offer of the computing power of AWS. This includes hundreds of thousands of NVIDIA graphics chips, with room to grow to millions of CPUs as needed.
OpenAI has already started using these services, and the complete rollout is expected by the end of 2026with the possibility of extending beyond.

To meet these demands, AWS is building a custom system for OpenAI. It connects NVIDIA GB200 and GB300 chips through Amazon EC2 UltraServers, which creates a connected system that keeps latencies low and performance high.
This configuration is built to handle a variety of activities, such as feeding ChatGPT or training future models, and can adjust as the work of OpenAI evolves.
By combining OpenAI’s research with AWS’ cloud tools, the two companies aim to bring better AI tools to more people in a secure way.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said that The scale of artificial intelligence (AI) requires reliable computing systems and that this agreement helps build the necessary foundation.
AWS CEO Matt Garman added that its infrastructure is adequate to support OpenAI’s growing workloads and future plans.
