David Sacksan adviser to the Trump administration, warned that the The biggest threat posed by artificial intelligence (AI) is a system that monitors citizens and shapes what they are allowed to see and hear.
Talking on the Ben & Marc Showa podcast hosted by venture firm a16z, Sacks compared different approaches to AI regulation.
He criticized the Biden administration and several Democratic-led states, including California and Colorado, for overly strict AI laws.

Sacks warned that if regulations push AI tools to reflect specific political values, systems could become biased themselves. He said this could lead to leaked or false answers, depending on who is in power.
He also pointed out the risks of surveillance. As AI becomes more integrated into everyday lifeas personal assistants, could collects a large amount of private data. He considers this type of control the most serious threat from AI.
Rather than singling out companies or AI developers, Sacks noted that the application should focus on those who abuse the tools. He said existing laws, such as those prohibiting discrimination, already provide ways to enforce bad actors.
