AMDthe next generation RDNA 4 graphics cards, which were revealed (rather fleetingly) at CES 2025It could be available sooner than you think – in pre-order at least, if the date accidentally published by a US seller turns out to be correct.
B&H Photo has apparently released the first listings for some Asus RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT graphics cards (TUF and Prime models), all of which come with a pre-order date of January 23rd.
Those lists were removed, but not before they were screenshotted by one of X’s regular hardware filters, @momomo_us (hat tip to VideoCardz).

So, it looks like we can book these long awaited RDNA 4 graphics cards in just two weeks, presumably before a release coming perhaps a week or so later.
Interestingly, another recent one noise on the release date of the RX 9070 came from the manufacturer of graphics cards XFX, which has some kind of announcement or launch of these GPUs expected for January 24. One way or another, then, it seems that something will happen with RDNA 4 as we had. in the last week of January.
It seems that this could be the official reveal of the full specifications and price details (which are not shared at CES 2025), ahead of shelf availability (which is why B&H has it as live pre-orders). Obviously take all this with a large amount of salt, and indeed there is a difference in the dates – January 23 or 24 – which casts doubt on more of these rumours. True, the XFX rumors come from their Middle East division, but the time difference between this and the 9am ET pre-order kick-off that B&H had dropped is still on the same day (only) .
We’ll just have to wait and see, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if AMD was planning to launch RDNA 4 and have these graphics cards on the shelves by the end of January, because Nvidia‘s RTX 5090 and 5080 are on sale come January 30. So, the dates are in place for what could be a big next-gen GPU showdown – sort of.
As you know, the RX 9070 models are not going to compete with Nvidia’s RTX 5080 (and certainly not the 5090), so how is this a “showdown” exactly? Well, the reality is that the RTX 5080 will be too expensive for most consumers, even if the $999 MSRP was more affordable than expected. (Yes, some people thought it would easily be $1,199, maybe more — though third-party boards will inevitably land more in that territory, since most of them will be quite a bit more expensive than the Founders Edition at the MSRP of Nvidia).
What we will have, therefore, is a situation where in theory AMD can come up with much more affordable next-generation GPUs, capture the interest of future buyers, collect more sales with RDNA 4 as people understand how cheap RTX is. The 5080 GPUs will – when Nvidia’s $999 Founders Edition inevitably sells out in a flash – potentially win the showdown this way.
