Mojang Studios has shared the details for MinecraftThe first major update of 2025.
Last year, the developer promised that in the new year, it will be ready more frequent content drops next to the improvements to the survival sandbox game.
Although the first update of 2025 does not have a release date yet, Mojang has already released the content of the patch for public testing, which includes six new game features for players to test in advance.
Among these new features are two new pig variants, the cold and hot pig, the first of which is covered in fluffy fur and thrives in sub-zero temperatures of cooler biomes, while the hot pig can be found in the dunes of the sand biomes. .
Three new environmental features will also be added that make the forest biomes feel “more alive”, including falling leaves, foliage and wild flowers.
“On your next expeditions into forests, dark woods and wooded terrain, listen to the crunch of leaves underfoot,” said Mojang. “The leaf trees make a rustling sound when you walk through them and can be used to decorate other blocks.
“In meadows, birch woods, and old birch woods, you will find wild flowers instead. These yellow and white flowers can be crafted into dyes and have four stages of growth that accelerate with bone meal. Place them in different corners to have your builds in different models.
Mojang also confirmed that all trees in the Overworld will have matching leaf particles falling from them.
Finally, the game will also receive a new, “simpler” recipe that will now only require players to “combine an iron ingot with your chiseled bricks to make a lodestone.”
For players interested in trying the update in advance, all they have to do is enable snapshots for Minecraft: Java editionor enabling previews/beta for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. The Bedrock Edition does not yet have the new game leaf and wild flower features, but both are expected to be added soon.
