CES 2025 is in full swing. And with great technology, the event is filled with some really weird gadgets. Here are some of the weirdest ones we’ve seen.

While the show was full of useful robotics, such as a Vacuum robot that can climb to small heightsMirumi is a different breed. The furry, and certainly cute, robot is designed to be strapped to the handle of a purse or bag. Thanks to the integrated sensors, it will detect when someone is nearby and interact with others. The head moves in many different ways to express child-like qualities and emotions. When you approach to touch it, the robot acts like a shy child and will turn its head.

If you can’t resist, Mirumi will be available from mid-2025 through a crowdfunding campaign. It should be around $70 and available in gray or pink.

Kirin electric salt spoon

There is no need to pass the salt when using the Kirin electric salt spoon. This gadget uses a small electric current to concentrate the taste of salt and umami in foods. The company says that using the spoon can actually increase the saltiness of foods, and there are four salt settings to select from.

The salt spoon is on sale in Japan for about $125. Kirin is looking to expand the spoon around the world in the next few years.

LeafyPod

If you don’t have a green thumb, LeafyPod can scare you. The device is a smart planter that uses AI to help irrigate the plant correctly and provides real-time notification about the health of the plant. It also connects with Amazon Alexa and Google Home to become part of a smart home ecosystem. What makes the system strange is that the user of the integrated app can notify if it needs more light, water, or something else. I have enough notifications throughout the day. The last thing I want to see is my plants telling me they are on the road to a slow, agonizing death.

You can pre-order the LeafyPod starting from $148 for a single planter. Orders are expected to arrive starting in April.

LG AeroCat Tower

There were a number of great ones new pet gadgets unveiled at CES. The quirky LG AeroCat Tower offers something for you and a feline friend. Along with an air purifier for your home, it doubles as a comfortable cat perch. Built-in sensors can track a cat’s weight and how much they sleep. When a cat climbs into bed, the air purifier automatically turns down to minimize noise.
