Microsoft names Jay Parikh as a member of the senior leadership team

Satya Nadella, Chairman and CEO, shared the below communication with Microsoft employees this morning.

When I look at the next phase of Microsoft, both in terms of our scale and our enormous opportunity ahead, it’s clear that we must continue to add exceptional talent at every level of the organization to increase our depth and capability across all of our business priorities—ranging from safety, quality and AI innovation.

In this context, I am excited to share with you that Jay Parikh is joining Microsoft as a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), which is a great fit for me. Jay was Global Head of Engineering at Facebook (now Meta) and was most recently CEO of Lacework. He has an impressive track record, with a unique combination of experience building and scaling technical teams serving both commercial and consumer customers. His deep connections in the startup and VC ecosystems, along with his leadership roles at Akamai and Ning, will bring a valuable perspective to Microsoft.

Over the years of knowing Jay, I have admired him as a technology leader and respected engineer with a deep commitment to driving innovation and striving for operational excellence. His focus extends beyond technology, with his passion and commitment to developing people, nurturing a strong culture and building world-class talent, all in the service of delivering value to clients faster and driving business growth. In fact, there are very few leaders in our industry with Jay’s experience in leading teams through the rapid growth and scale required to support today’s largest Internet companies.

While on board, Jay will immerse himself in learning about our company’s priorities and our culture, and will spend time connecting with our senior leaders and meeting with customers, partners and employees around the world. We’ll be sharing more about his role and focus over the next few months.

Please join me in welcoming Jay to Microsoft.

Satya
