Kobo’s Elipsa 2E, an excellent e-reader for taking notes, is down to its best price

Amazon might have released a new one Kindle Scribe earlier this month for $399.99But after trying it, I still don’t think it can compete with its rivals. If you’re looking for a good e-reader with more useful note-taking capabilities, the Kobo Ellipsa 2E is still one of my favorites, and it’s down to a low of $349.99 ($50 off) at Amazon o Target. Rakuten Kobo also throw in $10 in credit when you buy a $50 gift card, which you can use to shop books o style.

If you’re the type of person who likes to scribble in the margins while reading ebooks, you’ll probably prefer the Kobo Elipsa 2E. The Elipsa 2E allows you to write directly on the ebook pages, take notes in the margins or anywhere else you want, as you do on paper. The new Kindle Scribe also allows you to write directly on the pages, but it’s much more complicated and you can’t even search for phrases or words.

The Elipsa 2E also offers other useful features in addition to a more natural note-taking experience. It boasts twice the storage (32GB) as the Kindle Scribe, for example, and accurately converts handwriting to typed text faster than the Scribe. The biggest downside, of course, is that it doesn’t natively support Kindle ebooks, so you’ll have to convert your library if you want to read it from your Kobo device.
