Amazon is now the latest company that curb some of its DEI programsBloomberg reports, after Meta announced earlier Friday that it too is ending its diversity efforts.
An internal memo sent to staff said the company wants to phase out outdated programs and materials as part of a review of its current initiatives.
“Rather than individual groups creating programs, we focus on programs with proven results — and also aim to foster a more truly inclusive culture,” Candi Castleberry, senior executive director of human resources, wrote in the memo.
Amazon joins companies like Meta and Microsoft that have begun to reverse previous commitments to diversity, equality and inclusion. The Information reported Friday that Amazon has updated its company website to seemingly downplay DEI and also removed a 2021 post that expressed a focus on DEI.
The news comes as tech companies — and their leaders — prepare for the incoming presidential administration that likely to be hostile to DEIaccording to Bloomberg.
