Meta is already working on Community Notes for Threads

Meta announced last week that it will ditch fact-checkers in favor of X-like, self-described Community Notes. “leaker” Alessandro Paluzzi screenshots shared on Monday which shows what the function might look like in Threads.

Based on the screenshots, it seems that you can start the process of writing a community note from the three-point menu on a post, which is where you can already access functions such as muting an account or reporting a post. Another screenshot shows that when you write a community note, your note will be anonymous.

A third screenshot appears to show an Instagram help center page on Community Notes that has a button to join a waiting list for the program. However, the layout of the page looks different from the other live help center pages I can see right now.

Meta did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Meta said last week that it plans to “phase in Community Notes in the United States first in the next two months” and then “improve over the course of the year”, but did not specify exactly when the feature could be available on Threads .
