Technology is for more than humans. At CES 2025 in Las Vegas, a number of new smart pet gadgets were announced. Here are some of my favorites.
Pawport Smart Pet Door
A pet door is perfect for a dog or cat that wants to come and go from the outdoors without needing someone to open and close the door. But the door is also a door for other creatures like bugs, insects and small rodents to enter your home.
The Pawport brings some much-needed intelligence to any existing pet gate or new build. Your pet wears a small waterproof tag on a collar. That opens the door automatically and then closes after the cat or dog has passed. Using the companion app, you can remotely control the door, set curfews, and more. You can also see when your pet enters and exits.
The smart pet door starts at $499 and arrives early this year.
Filtered Petcube fountain for pets
A smart water fountain is one of mine favorite smart home devices for a pet. And the Petcube Filtered Water Fountain is made to provide clean and fresh water for a cat or small dog. The fountain uses a four-layer filtration system and UV-C antibacterial light.
The 1.7 liter tank is dishwasher safe and can store more than 7 days of water. A 2,600 mAh battery will power the fountain for up to 20 days on a single charge. Along with a chew-proof cable, the rubber feet help keep the fountain in place. Integration with the companion app will let you know when it’s time to change the water filter.
You can pre-order the fountain now. It is $89.99 for a version with a ceramic basin or $69.99 for a model with a stainless steel bowl. It will officially arrive on March 1st.
PETPA Multi-Animal Feeder
PETPA’s multi-pet feeder helps make it a little easier to manage a feeding schedule for more than one cat or dog. The system identifies each animal with a microchip and image recognition. It has two different types of pet food and allows you to create a feeding schedule for each pet with a companion app. The feeder can hold up to 15 days of food for two cats and switches between the specific bowl when each animal is identified.
There is no word on the retail price or release date for the power supply.
