Bindwell Raises $6M to Modernize Pest Control with AI

Bindwell secured $6 million in new financing to support their work to develop safer pest control products with artificial intelligence (AI).

According to a press releasethe round was led by General Catalyst and A Capitalwith supplement support from SV Angel and Paul Graham.

Before joining the Winter 2025 group of Y Combinator, the company had already received an initial investment from Character Capital.

The company uses AI methods that have been effective in medical research and applies them to agriculture. His system can evaluate potential pesticide candidates in seconds.

This faster approach aims to reduce the cost of creating new pest control productswhich has grown from about $30 million to about $300 million per product over the past thirty years.

With the new funding, Bindwell plans to move forward with its first in-house pesticide, hire more AI and biology researchers, and expand its lab space in San Carlos, California. One of the founders, Tyler Rose, said:

AI is revolutionizing drug discovery. The discovery of Pesticides came about through the same transformation.

Paul Graham met with the founders before deciding to invest. He later wrote about X“The founders of Bindwell will probably do well. They are smart and have a good idea.”
