Martin Short brings holiday joy (and roasts) to his musical ‘SNL’ monologue


Martin Short celebrated his fifth time hosting Saturday Night Live with a monologue full of musical holiday cheer.

U Only murders in the building stella cleared things up with a conventional monologue, roasting everything from Cybertrucks to his partner Steve Martin.

“I would have been there tonight, but he had a conflict with me that he didn’t want to be there,” Short said. “And besides, it’s a test week for The Masked Singer.”

But when SNLCast members beg Short to cure their holiday anxieties, the host is only too happy to oblige — in song, of course. He breaks into a parody of “We Need a Little Christmas,” telling the audience he “needs a new prescription” to get through the holiday season.

Come for Short’s boundless energy and singing, stay for him throwing a kid off Santa’s lap and roasting Lorne Michaels. (“You smell wonderful, I didn’t know Jack Daniels made cologne.”) Furthermore, after a week of fight with Jimmy Fallonthe pair reconcile with a passionate makeout session.
